Another Masterpiece of German Military Manufacturing

A small portable fuel can invention was instrumental in the success of Germany’s blitzkrieg, making it one of the greatest industrial designs of the 1930s.

Even now, 87 years later, the German military’s original fuel can design remains unchanged, and during World War II, the US, UK, and USSR all sought to replicate it.

What makes this portable fuel can so remarkable?

1. German Military Secret Project: Building the Fuel Can

After World War I, Germany was eagerly preparing for the next conflict.

When Hitler rose to power, the Nazis took control of the German military, and war seemed inevitable.

In wartime, Hitler was most concerned about logistical supply issues. At this time, Germany had produced a large number of weapons and ammunition, but one critical concern was the gasoline supply.

Frontline vehicles, tanks, and trucks all needed a large amount of gasoline. If gasoline couldn’t be supplied promptly, the transport chain would essentially be rendered useless.
