How Terrifying Was the Soviet Purge? Of Five Marshals, Three Were Executed, One Met a Tragic End, and One Died Peacefully
These marshals made significant contributions to the establishment of the Soviet Union, yet their fates evoke profound sighs of regret
During World War II, there was a gathering of famous generals. As the leader of the Axis powers, Germany naturally had the strongest military capabilities.
However, the military leaders of Russia at that time were also formidable.
Many famous generals emerged during the same period, such as Tymoshenko, Zhukov, Silevski, Tukhachevsky, Biriuzov-Grechko, and others.
In terms of lineup and capabilities, they were no less impressive than Germany’s team of famous generals, but in fact, many of them did not actually die in the war against Germany, but rather at the hands of their own people.
Of the 43 who were honored with the title of Marshal of the Soviet Union, nearly all died during Stalin’s Great Purge.
