Manstein and Zhukov are each seen as the top army generals of the Axis and Allied sides during World War II. Which one of them can be called the greatest general in the world?

Who is wiser and more talented? Today, let’s compare what they achieved.

Soviet Marshal Zhukov

Before the war, Zhukov was in a really bad situation. Because of the Great Purge, Zhukov could only lead troops in the Far East. But the German attack changed his fate completely.

At the start of the Soviet-German War, Stalin often messed with military commands. With the issue of Kiev, Stalin insisted on holding the city, which led to 665,000 Soviet troops being captured.

After this, Stalin realized Zhukov was right, and then gave Zhukov important jobs.

In 1941, Zhukov first went to Leningrad to stabilize the front line, then went back to the central front to defend Moscow, and took part in the Battle of Moscow. You could say Zhukov was a major reason for the victory in the Battle of Moscow.

In the 1942 Battle of Stalingrad, Zhukov’s great command used a pincer movement to surround Paulus’s 6th Army.

Since I was young, I have always enjoyed reading biographies of historical figures, especially those about World War II, including documentaries and novels.
